Anyway to check sat nav version before paying out for an upgrade I might not need?
I know I can use Google maps, wave etc.. But actually quite like the inbuilt kit. Just bought a Discovery 4 MY2014 HSE Lux and loving it after being away from the brand for 6 years. Previous experience wasn't good but I've always loved them and the bug got me...

Not sure you can get a later upgrade than 2014. People have done upgrades on here by purchasing discs. Try using the search facility on the forum to find more. Gary

Welcome Eskimorob
Good luck. I must say I prefer Waze to the JLR SatNav, as the former is free & up to date at all times, even warning of traffic jams, speed traps, broken down vehicles etc.

i had the dreaded epb issue a few months ago fixed it myself thanks to (Bodsy's Brake bible) All i'll say about that is what a pita job but all good now.

I used it for my upgrade about 12 months ago with that mapping . Its exactly the same as the LR upgrade it is pretty up to date on mapping as well . Just a word of warning though it may take several hours and as per the original LR upgrade DO NOT REMOVE the USB stick during upgrade .HOWEVER contrary to popular belief you dont need to keep the vehicle running when not in use as the vehicle can shut down and it just picks up again where it left off if you start another journey
It takes a day or two to get the code thats needed .He gets that from somebody tame whos in the know
All in all recommend
Just to add that only works on vehicles from 2012 onwards with the Bosch 8in screen.

Thank you for that. I might give it ago then. Even on our 2016 car the sat nav thinks we’re driving across many fields when we’re on new-ish roads! I know the D4 is an off-reader, but……….
