I think this raises the question, how many people keep a fire extinguisher in their car?
Got mine attached to the pillar on the drivers side next to the second row seats, opposite a large first aid kit on the passengers side.what is this life, if full of care?

It sounds like a good idea, though I've not yet had the opportunity to use one in 33 years and nearly 1.2 million miles!

After a near miss a few years ago with a car fire (not a landrover) I have extinguishers front and rear but most importantly life hammers front and rear too and all my family know exactly where to grab them should the worst happen. Priority is everyone getting out then you consider if you want to try and put it out or wait for the professionals.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

How do you best mount one in the car?

The Life Hammers?
They come with holders that have 4 spikes and you hammer them into carpet or plastic wherever you want. I've got mine down low besides the seats. Carpet options good as they can be removed and no holes left They're not just hammers they have a tool for cutting seatbelt too.
Front extinguisher is in passenger footwell and rear is bolted to cargo barrier (boot side) but can be easily grabbed from passenger side. They need mounting with consideration as could become serious missiles in a collision.

you can see the mounting of mine in this picture... just using the standard mount that it came with and some hefty self threading screws...

And the first aid kit on the other side... I made some fabric mounts and a strap to keep it in place:
