Cancelled our Cornwall trip this year. I love the West Country, been visiting Devon and Cornwall for decades, I just couldn't stand the thought of it being so crowded as I'm sure it will be this year.Richard

SWMBO manages 15 apartments over Carbis Bay. Alot of the regulars aren't coming and those that have are leaving early as the crowds are massive.
Cant blame people wanting a break but Cornish resources and infrastructure struggles.
Still once Benidorm and Megamuff are open to Brits again it will hopefully calm down a bit.
And yes its not the top of the season yet!

Away from the NC500 we seem to be less busy than normal.
Our tourism had been around 75-80% foreign and I don't think the UK tourism has increased nearly enough to make up for the complete lack of that market....unless we're just talking camper vans, of which there are far, far too many!
Our pricing is same as 2019 and yet we're at least 25-30% down on bookings compared to then.
Hoping 2022 is more like pre-Covid times.
I can well believe hospitality in Devon/Cornwall and the parts of the UK tourist trail that were more domestic-heavy pre-Covid are having a bumper time though.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

from this assuming the NC500 is busier than usual? Had an awesome week on a motorbikes around 2018 & 2019 but it was busy with slow moving rental motorhomes even then... was thinking about going there this year but slightly worried if it's going to be rammed!

I perceive there being more domestic users (incl. campervans) of the NC500 but I'm not sure the NC500 is that much busier than normal given the almost complete lack of foreign tourists.
There's certainly a lot more 'dirty camping' going on... the foreign tourists paid a lot to come here so don't tend to skimp on sites/accommodation.
This time of year we'd normally have 3 of 4 cars on the road being 20 and 21 plate hire cars but there's almost none.
I've had no typical summer tourist-type hold-ups north of Fort William at all this year but I've also never seen so many tents next to laybys and the like and i see reports of the same (although tents and campers at passing places) on parts of the NC500 route.
For local tourism businesses it is far from being a bumper year, although i do fear all the talk of overcrowding and doubled prices is putting off people from considering having a holiday up here.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

I was planning a trip from John o Groats to Lands End this year, time is tight so would only spend the day, but I’m unsure whether to go ahead or not. Maybe stick with my usual, head up north. Much to the pleasure of an ex forum member 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Looking at a reasonably long (couple of months) jolly for next year. Thinking about GTing down through France, Switzerland and Italy, then over the water to Greece. Maybe even get to Crete. Hmmmmmm, a plan may be hatching.

Well I’ve decided to go north this year, I’ll go south next year stopping off at a few places on the way down and take a bit more time.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
