Screeching Brakes

My brakes screech first thing in the morning when reversing out of the garage. I don't think it's the EPB because I've tried it with/without using the park brake for a few days. Once the car is going forward, the screech disappears and doesn't come back until the following day when everything has cooled down again.

It's been doing this from new as far as I recall. D4 with 850 steady miles. Ran the brakes in gently and haven't (yet - touch wood) had any need to apply them particularly hard.

Any ideas please or just return to dealer ? 2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT

my understanding is that it is a no-cost feature that LR forgot to advertise. Try to think of it as a reversing beep to keep children out of the way! Thumbs Up d4 HSE

I had new calipers fitted to my car last year to cure this, ooops sorry not last year 2009!! They replaced the calipers with D3 ones and it never squeaked again. 2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

I only noticed how loud mine were when guiding him indoors while reversing in the snow. I must wake the neighbours up every morning!

I might mention it as it needs some other warranty work doing, but I'm not holding my breath....

Mine also has a faint screech when driving dead slow and using the brake to "crawl" eg. when pulling into the garage. Reminds me of the old S class merc's (80's & 90's) they used to do the same Very Happy White MY2011 SDV6 HSE
