Screen boots up when car unlocked - and doesn't turn off.. |
|
Hi guys
Quick Q, not sure if this is a feature or an issue.
When I unlock my D3 HSE, the main Sat Nav screen turns on with a Land Rover logo.
If I then lock the car (let's say I've just got something out the boot) then the Land Rover logo remains on the screen and does not go away. What should be happening here?
I have to use the main Radio On/Off switch to turn the display off, or put the key in and out the ignition (this seems to trigger the screen to go past the logo and boot the last screen displayed)
I'm not able to test how long the Land Rover logo remains if I just lock the car again, as the battery is in bad health and I don't want to jump start the car.
Cheers

Fair enough. Has been on the list for a while! The screen does change if I just put the key in by the way - doesn’t need the engine on?

Also try a hard reset. Can cure electrical gremlins. Have you been getting any warning messages on start up in the mornings ? James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

Thanks. Will look into hard reset. I do get special programs off message when the lights and radio have been on for a while without engine on - which is probably bad battery health

It will go off just under 10 minutes !
If you turn the ignition on to I and off. the screen will shut off.
Pain I know.
or I have the LR button programmed to the tailgate so it doesn't activate the screen

Mine would also turn off. But only once it had flattened the battery ! They don’t always Turn off. In the end I replaced the head unit and all these radio / clock / sat nav issues went away James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

10 minutes would probably kill my battery at the moment
It's a shame as it's the only issue with the radio/sat nav but it is a pain to have to press a button or put a key in..just to fetch something out the car.

If your battery is that weak I'm surprised you're not having all sorts of problems. .

Next steps would be borrowing a head unit from someone near to you if you can. Swap it over and see how it behaves. I am not a mechanic but reckon your head unit is probably goosed so may be an idea to get a used one. This is what I did.
As stated mine would stay on once the car was turned off, clock sometimes also stayed lit. Only way to turn them off was to do a hard re-set. Otherwise it took the battery out.
Started to get embarrassing turning up at a place to pop the bonnet and get the spanners out ! James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.
