my local copper thought my camera idea was asking for trouble as it then makes it look like you have something if value in the house, not just the car on the drive Rolling Eyes

when they attacked the door did they take everything they had broken off with them Question

When they attacked my French door, they took every little piece with them, apart from a small thumb nail sized piece, which is what i noticed when opening the curtains in the morning.

The police said its so they can't be forensically linked to other jobs due to mole grip imprints.

Yep, they found the outer lock barrel this morning in a plant pot.
It's got mole grip marks on it and they reckon that's was good enough evidence.
Still haven't found the broken cover plate, but as you say, they probably took it with them.

I'd be interested to know what reductions you get on car insurance if you have a tracker fitted?

Dunno what the going price is for trackers but these are 115USD, 95USD and 92USD:

Dont have any experiance with their trackers but they are cheap and deliver for free Smile. And it all arives (the things I ordered did).

If you've been targeted by cylinder snappers why not change your cylinders for anti-snap ones like this

http://www.kaba.co.uk/products/kaba-lam-th...y-kaba.asp

These blokes haven't got much finesse, are looking for an easy in (hence going for the UPVC door) and don't want to hang around. When they realise their moleys can't pull the cylinder they'll be off next door.

Don't bother hiding the keys - it's insured, let them take it. One of the lads on the Evo owners club was woken up with a boiled kettle being held over his face as he had hidden the keys. I never had my tracker on the evo activated either, be sole reason being that if it did get stolen, ragged to Censored from cold and then I got it back, I probably wouldn't have wanted it back.

Take the keys, you're welcome to them. But come upstairs for anything else and you'll probably get 32grams of lead poisoning Whistle

Thanks for the tip KC, but what's the betting the repair guy won't have or even heard of them ?

Also, just shows our typical workman attitude, I phoned the conservatory repair specialists and also the company that supplies and services my alarm.
Called both of them at 9am this morning - not one bothered to return the call!
[I purposfully left it just to see if they would]

No wonder this country's turning into a service industry.
We'll soon all be working in McDonalds, B&Q etc and be calling professional services in from the likes of Germany, Japan etc !

My phone will be red hot tomorrow btw Evil or Very Mad

Sorry to hear ron, just a thought, could you put a small chain around both door handles so the doors cannot be opened outward, or fit a sash lock, I have two on our back door one at the top and one at the bottom so if the lock is taken out or unlocked with the key the door won't open, and I have seen an extending pole that fits on patio doors that stops the door sliding open. I know its abit late but these are cheap to put in place and the chain around the doors and the pole can be seen from outside so they might not even try and sod off! Thumbs Up

Don't know how handy you are with them, but what if your burglar got to them before you did... or got to them when you weren't in the house and it was just your wife & kids, or it was smack-head who just didn't think rationally. What if he had hold of one and was standing between you and your kids. What if there were two of them with swords...? Still feeling confident? Just saying mate... Smile Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I'd have them locked away or something... or maybe "something else" locked away in a "cabinet" that I could get to first that could be used from more of a distance... Whistle Whistle Whistle

A house in our village was done the other night. Very pro job. The burglars specced the property from a Rightmove advert - they knew the advert and the location of the tellys/hi-fi etc. Dogs went nuts, but the owner just stood at the top of the stairs and shouted at them to be quiet....
