SCV6?

I'm off to see a 2014 LR4 tomorrow. Anyone any experience with the petrol V6 that was fitted for the last couple of years of production? Common issues? From what I can gather after reading online it's a bit gutless compared to its V8 predecessor. As I've never driven one of those though - it'll be a case of ignorance is bliss.

I'd told myself I was sticking to Toyota over here as good LR mechanics for out of warranty vehicles were few and far between. Very suddenly found myself in urgent need of an additional vehicle though and heart is winning over head. Big Cry

Picked it up today. Needs a few bits doing to it, but first impressions are good. Not as torquey as the diesel but it picks up and goes very nicely. Wife and daughter love it, which is the best possible outcome. 8)

I think you are confusing the SCv6 with the non SC V6 that was in the D3 - the SCv6 really goes and is really a match for the non supercharged V8.

You might be right, maybe I was googling the wrong engine - wouldn't be the first time I've confused myself. Having now driven the car a fair bit, it's quite sprightly when I put my foot down. One criticism though is that it desperately needs a bigger fuel tank Thumbs Up

An issue the V8 owners also had - less ooomph on the gas pedal or fit an auxiliary 120l fuel tank in the spare wheel well - but then you will need a spare wheel carrier for the spare - the list goes on.

This thing needs drop tanks. You know I'm wary of doing too much research into auxiliary fuel tanks in case I get carried away with the credit card one night and end up ordering one. I'm definitely not averse to the idea of the spare wheel mounted on the back either. It's a slippery slope... Confused Confused Confused Laughing

Both front runner and long ranger made nice tanks. They were priced somewhere around 2k eur. Whistle

And Nakatanenga made very nice spare wheel carriers. Priced somewhere slightly above 1k eur... Mr. Green Whistle Whistle

I looked into these briefly at the same time I looked whether it would make sense to convert to LPG (government subsidizes this).

Yeah, add Brown Davis to the list of long range tanks too.. Not that I've been researching, of course. Rolling with laughter

I've been close to pulling the trigger on the nakatanenga wheel carrier for my UK car a few times - but then talked myself out of it because of the postage stamp sized parking bays over there. I think it was originally your posts listing various options that first put that idea into my head Big Cry Big Cry

Brown Davis was new to me, looks all business. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Actually I’ve been quite close to buying the Nakatanenga, too, but so far have always had something else to spend money on.... Laughing

Here in Aust there are 3 or 4 makers of aux tanks - ranging in size from about 80 to 120 litres - gravity feed or pump. Same as rear wheel carriers - a number of manufacturers.

Don't forget LLAMs for your suspension.
