SDV6 Engine fire
Not my vehicle but one I’m considering buying looks like a minor engine fire - I’m thinking EGR cooler ? All I have is pics to go from but I’m thinking engine should be ok once wiring harness replaced and EGR cooler system replaced? All vehicle electrics seem ok but engine will not start at present 2015 SDV6 120000 miles

It might have been caused by a leaking fuel return line! If they leak, the fuel can drip onto the hot exhaust and kaboom!
You will be replacing that now anyway along with manifolds, wiring, sensors, and just about anything that's plastic.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Does it turn over?
When I had an egr cause a smaller fire on my D3 the insurance assessor was very sceptical and told me that with D3 and D4s an Engine fire can be a way to mask a broken crank. He started the car up to check if the engine would turn overMust stop buying shiny toys....
