Seat upgrade

I have fitted a pair of HSE front seats to my 2016 D4 Graphite edition. Seats work fine but have triggered a warning light airbag fault. It is the seat pre tensioners and LR main dealer cannot get it to turn off. Any ideas?

Have the tensioner fired? I bet the seats came out of a crashed vehicle. Can you fit your old ones to the seats?

I guess that it’s new pretenioners need fitting.

Hi

Ur be able to see if the pre tensioners have fired, the plastic crumples up and ur see wire at the end ,

If they have fired there is a possibility ur seat airbags may have also fired , assume JLR tested the airbag live data readings to ensure they were ok

Also if I may say , don’t do any work on the airbag system without disconnecting the battery first and then waiting 30 x mins , alas unsure if u have 2 x batteries on ur D4 and if they both need disconnecting

Hope that helps a little

Ps, as a side note the coloured plugs that fit underneath the seats black connector block will only fit into the correct placement , they can’t be fitted into the wrong slot as there all keyed differently

Ahh that makes sense, it’s the passenger side that’s triggered. Just as jou say the seat belt stalk plastic sheath is crumpled, I only have one battery so that’s straight forward. Do you know if the pretensioners are year specific? As a temporary measure can the plug that supplies the info on the pretensions Ron that seat be disconnected to clear the fault light?

Hi

No , if u unplug the tensioner it will detect it’s not there and still throw a fault up,

Had this on my D3 when I had a nightmare with the airbag light to which I tried unplugging the faulty pre tensioner and was still the same

There should be a date underneath the seats , alas not 100% if there different between the D3/4

Wondering if there’s a part number on the pre tensioner itself

Enclosed a link so u can at least get the parts numbers
