Hi Darryl,
I suspect that is just yours. Mine is "smooth as" in all gears.

Best Wishes,

Its more likely the engine mapping not the gear box. Was an issue with 2005/6 D3's until the Enhancement Program where new mapping was installed. Reduced the drop off in power when changing from 1st to 2nd considerably but not completely.

Have your dealer check this was done (long time ago now) and you may find that LR if asked nicely may have it applied free or at a reduced cost. It was not a recall as such but was a mandatory service action at the request of LR.

The air suspension compressor was also upgraded as there were issue with seals.

United Kingdom 2009 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Manual Izmir BlueDiscovery 3

hi Darryl
my 09 is a bit tight into second
my previous 06 was smoother
thought it might get better with a few miles
now 8k and no better
assume its down to tollerances, guess some are better than others
how many miles have you covered?
cheers

Darryl, are you talking about physically moving the gear stick into 2nd or a power drop / lurch you get ??

The latter is what I am talking about...

Hi Simon the problem is when you actually move the gear stick into 2nd it feels very notchy for want of a better word and seems to slam into gear, hard to describe realy until you drive it Confused

OK. So my answer has nothing to do with it then.

Mechanical and not software related.
