In my opinion, I would say have them done, gives the correct impression of a well cared for motor and 1 less thing for a buyer to knock you down on price for.

Yes definitely. Also get it done with evidence of all the other bits that People usually question, like oil pump and water pump. All builds confidence.

Hi,
I think the other way on a 2005 car Shocked

work out how much it Will cost you to get them done and reduce your price by that,
your car looks better value
your No worse off
the new owner "May" be able to do the belts themselves which works out better value for them as well
if the new owner has to pay someone to do the work you have already reduced the price anyway, so the "£700 off to get the belts done" has already been addressed
everyone wins

be open (as you are doing) about what needs doing and Hopefully you have receipts for previous work done that still shows its not been neglected Question

Its a bit like tyres I would Always rather buy a car with worn out tyres than "new set just put on"
you can see how the old set has worn so any tracking issues and you get to put on the tyres that You want and best suit your needs (not ditch finders cheapest ones going!)

The short answer is dont do them but point it out Laughing

Thumbs Up

Do not forget at that age, it will be a lr enthusiast buying rather than average joe punter.

Being an enthusiast they will know what the cars foibles are, and most likely can do the work themselves.

Not forgetting front belt change on D3 is straight forward job.

I would say sell as it is. It may be easier to sell after spending a few hundred pounds on belts, but the expense will not be reflected in vehicle value (sale price).

Also, if new owner gets the work done they can choose the garage and have a guarantee. They may opt for oil pump replacement and a service at the same time.
