Service Plan options from new on a Sept 2016 D4 |
|
Hi,
My local LR dealer let slip today that when my D4 was bought new from them it was sold with a prepaid service plan.
I can't find much information on how long this service plan might have been for. I'm clutching at straws in the vague hope that there may be some value left unless the previous owner cashed it in or it expired some time ago.
Anyone able to put any light on the options it may have been sold with so I can pick this up with the dealer?
I'm not in a position to ask the dealer directly at the present moment for reasons I shan't go into here...yet.

As I understand it, the five year plan is for five services for five years, for up to 50,000 miles. I managed to get four on mine doubt if I would have managed the fith one. They will not cover the likes of Brake Fluid Change, thats extra. So basically oil change and filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter.
There was word on another thread that they have dropped the five year limit but no one has provided anything to substantiate it.

I'd hazard a guess that they'll be an exclusion clause.
e.g. "Ownership has to be that of the first registered keeper for the five year period." 🏴

They were originally 5 years or 50k miles but I believe that got changed, the distance limit, it cost £600 and was transferable. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

It is 5 years and they have recently scrapped the mileage limit - 100% deffo as it applies to my 2016 Landmark and I have taken advantage of it.
The plan lives with the vechicle and not the owner. So you shouldn't have any issues not been the first owner and the plan can't be cashed in.
So if you are under 5 years then it should apply.

I bought a 2016 D4 in July, few weeks later I got a letter in the post from another LR dealership stating It still had year to run on a service plan. That was a nice surprise ☺ Si

Thanks guys. I'm over the 50K mark but under 5 years. I knew the plan was with the vehicle unless it was cashed in. so it's worth a question, once I've resolved the current dispute.
Any idea how I could find out if there is still a plan against the car without approaching the local dealer at this stage?
Thanks for the detail guys

Can anyone provide any evidence of the removal of the 50k mileage limit?
Mine hit 50k at about 2 1/4 yrs in, meaning 3 services provided within the plan, and the 4th in 2019 & 5th this year charged. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Why not phone a dealer within another network, suitably distant to you.

Chatted this morning to my dealer. Seem that the time /distance restrictions would have been based on time of purchase. Therefore in 2016 it was 5 years or 50k and I'm outside that now based on mileage.

I reckon that is a pile of smelly stuff that comes out of the backend of a bull.
How come my 2016 Landmark that was purchased prior to yours, in the March of 2016, has a five year Service Plan and the mileage did not matter when I had it serviced in March this year. The dealer themselves told me LR had abandoned the mileage limit.
Pick another dealer that isn't herding bulls.
I don't know where you are based, but you could give Ribblesdale Land Rover a call. Say you are new to the vehicle and can they confirm the 5 year service plan details.
You could also contact LR Customer service.

Interesting.
I may well call customer relations to see what I can find out. I must admit the relationship with the dealer is somewhat strained at the moment, so they may have tried to fob me off.

You need to call the service plan company. When I sold my D4 with the plan, I transferred it to 5he new owner and the cap was 100% lifted even though bought with it
