Servicing LR3 at home

Hi all. I have owned several Defenders and a couple of Range Rovers back in the UK where there is obviously a large third party, non LR specialist network. Now find myself with an LR3 living here in chilly Canada where I have a choice of 1 main dealer, providing pretty much the worst service I have experienced anywhere. My LR3 is coming up to 4 years old and the free servicing period is just about the run out.

I was thinking about doing the basic servicing myself and hoping for the best - to be honest, every time I go into the dealer, they seem to need to call 'the helpline' to resolve anything. I get the impression they are less than expert so slightly begrudge paying them $480 for a 84,000km service when I suspect they'll change the oil and give it a wash.

So - to my question - other than the oil change, pollen filter thingy and the easy stuff, is there anything you chaps would recommend I take care of at this point?

Also, I'm going to need to reset the service indicator on the dash - has anyone worked out how to do that yet?

Any encouragement would be much appreciated - its' been a while since I have tinkered with cars so could do with some pointers for a bit of home servicing Smile

BTW, this particular LR3 has been an electrical nightmare - suspension, PDC and EMU all playing up - but when it's running well, on a snowy day at -30c in the Rocky mountains, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Cheers all.

Matt

Apart from useing the service schedule which can be found somewhere on this forum, the service indicator needs the computor stuff to reset, if you dont mind it comeing on each start up its ok just to ignore it, it will just tick on with no concequence, just use a sticker on the windscrene to indercate the next service.
Others no dout will add to this, as there are a lot now contaplating or doing their own servicing.
Good luck

Cheers

There are sevaral topics about maintenance in the "Tips & tricks" sector.
Here is a link to the oil changing topic, and this one is about changing brake pads.

I hope this will be of any help Smile

And maybe a "hard reset" would clear the service indicator Rolling Eyes Question

Hard reset not possible without dealer computor, minor reset possible .
Also had from a reliable source that the service indicator if left too long can cause problems in the long term Shocked

Cheers

It's a link to the topic how to do a hard reset. Confused. Are you saying it is a minor reset and not a hard reset? Question
