Short excursion around Athens, Greece
Probably a very long shot but here goes...
Would anyone on the forum be interested in getting together for a short daytrip around Parnitha (a mountain about 40mins drive from Athens centre) sometime in late February?
Parnitha used to be one of the few remaining green lungs of the capital, which was sadly almost completely burnt to to the ground during the big blazes of 2008...
Apart from a chance to do some off-roading, we could use the opportunity to document what reforestation efforts have been done at what areas and maybe get through the bureaucracy and get a spot allocated to later do some of our own ( those who know the Greek system will understand my reaction as I write this).
Let me know.
Cheers.

Oh, come on, just under 2000 miles, 22 hours on the ferry from Ancona, Italy, cost you about £1,200, times two for your return and you'll pass?
Cheers for the though...

Cheers Dimit(ri)S
Not too many from our neck of the woods on here, certainly not too active IIRC...
One or two I could get hold of, would be a shame to have more Jeeps and Pajeros than D3s!!!
Would be 8) if we could get through to plant some of our own, this is how the place looks for the most part:
...and this is how it was (and tiny specs of it left like this):
(no, I promise it's not the Alps, it's truly a scene from 25km outside Athens, Greece )

Nice choice Biz. Parnitha mountain was one of the most beautiful places around Athens but we Greeks don't pay the necessary attention to our forests.
I wish I was there to join you.

Hey diamond, long time no see... Guess you're over at the RR forum more now with your new toy
any plans to come down with it any time soon?
I'll try and upload the track from the previous trip (viewable in Google Earth) which was around 117 km IIRC, to get an idea of what we could do. Not sure about dates yet, but I count desmo and DimitS so far...
More soon
