Show us your... dash (well Double Din/4x4 screen set-ups)

Ok so the time has come to freshen-up the ICE in the old girl. The double din unit has become temperamental, I had to coax out an Oasis CD the other night. On the basis that I have the HK system, and the 4x4 upper screen, I'm aware on replacing the double DIN unit I will lose usage of the 4x4 screen, believe it literally goes blank as no MOST feed (don't believe there is a viable work-around?).

Ok the 4x4 screens only real use is for seeing which wheel height sensor want's to play up on a weekly basis, so away from that has no real advantage?

So my initial line of thought was to fit an Android compatible double DIN unit which will handle music and nav, then use the defunct space in front of the 4x4 screen to house my tablet for mapping etc. rather than mounting that on a RAM mount off to the side.

Anyone see any issues with that as an idea?

Any images of any tidy solutions or any work arounds of the double Din and 4x4 screen area welcome Thumbs Up

I know not really what you're looking for Whistle But another option I did to freshen up the interior, was swap for the RR Sport Dash. You could still go down the Double Din Route..

You can split the headunit in 2.

Put the rear half in the upper glovebox, and that will drive the display and allow you to set the clock on the dash? and change settings.

Cover the display up by all means, but easy to uncover if you want to.

Pete K, didn't realise the unit split, presume splitting it still disables the nav screen?

The screen and nav still work
i guess the nav instructions won't be spoken on the speakers if you have disconnected them, and wired to new headunit. Could possibly fit one speaker to amp for nav.
I can't say keeping the D3 nav is very appealing. Other options way better.

i haven't done it, but a lot of people used to. Do a search on here if that option interests you
