Sills. I don’t think a wire brush is going to cut it.
Ever wondered what’s hidden under your plastic sill covers.
I didn’t. I bought a set of tree bars to replace the side steps that had been on since new. I wasn’t even too worried that I had to cut the side steps off. And I certainly did not expect this.
My local indi has said they will weld it up but it’ll be much labour. I can find plenty of disco 1 sill replacement panels but nothing for the D3, other than LR original at £mega.

try Landranger Services ? realise they're not local to you but certainly had the knowledge/options for my old D1 ... can't imagine they don't do newer stuff.

Find someone that sells steel rather than ally rocksliders and weld them in place would probably be my course of action and theeeeennn......???

Funnily enough the reason the steps were taken off was to put a set of rock sliders in.
I like the idea that the rock sliders can come off again to be blasted and repainted. I had to do that with my D2. But maybe the indi can use the ones I have as a template.D3 V8 HSE

Mine has just gone in to have work done 4 days labour just short of a grand. I will upload the pictures once the work has been done. Check out my pictures of my sills I uploaded last week if you can find them. It’s under “Failed MOT on sills”

also failed to mention my welder is making new sills. I had a price from Rimmer Bros on replacement sills £618 each. My fabricator is making new sills for £100 each.

That’s the price I’ve been quoted as well (£618)
As Bodsy says - if your welder can get them made up for 100 per side then there will most definitely be an interest. I’ll even drive over from Lux to get them done !
(Incidentally, I was quoted €3,000 Labour and €1,500 materials from a body repair place.... Needless to say they were told they were being a bit silly....)MY2008 D3 - It got me hooked...gone

This is costing me £900. He’s agreed today to take photos of the stages. So once done, all the photos will be uploaded here. He is going to fabricate the sills so they will be for sale & supply. If you should want them welded else where.
