Silver & black vintage plates on a post 1975 vehicle

Has anyone had any experience of running a post 1975 registered vehicle with vintage silver & black plate thats not registered in the historic vehicle class?

I've got a 1961 reg on my 2007 Discovery & thought that as it's in Stornaway grey, silver & black plates might look rather nice Smile

My concern though is it may not be worth the hassle if it constantly attracts the wrong kind of attention.

Thoughts?

I have to say, from a personal point of view, I think silver and black plates on anything newer than a 60's classic just looks wrong.

I could legally have them on my Triumph, but in 1973, it would have come out of the dealer with white front and yellow rear plates.

S'pose I could buy the plates now to satisfy my curiosity, then see if it's possible to keep Miss Moneypit on the road for another 29 years to register as a historic vehicle, then think about it again. Thumbs Up
Although she'll probably have me broke long before then.
