Yep. The guy's a star right enough. Him and his Missus deserve all the happiness they can get.

I'm waiting now to see who exactly does get their collar felt for what went on, and who does eventually get the Criminal Records Office number.

Indeed and changed the title to sir Alan bates as I forgot

Think many papers have said this is the largest miss carriage of justice in British history and can’t even begin to imagine what it done to both of them mentally wise

Plus 1, Fingers crossed there will be some prison sentences handed out and not suspended along with of course compensation

Absolutely!

Equally, the Grenfell Tower disaster.

David (Lord!) Cameron's government came in determined to "Sweep away Red Tape (aka learning from past mistakes, or ensuring safe quality standards, etc etc), and that grossly fat Eric(also Lord!) Pickles made sure that is exactly what they did.

They will of course, try to blame Civil Servants. In my nearly 50 years of employment, I never met a politician who admitted their policies were wrong, it has always been "We were poorly advised" or "We were not told".
Pickles and Cameron"s policy caused the death of those poor souls, and unless this government cracks on with removing the cladding from around 4500 property in the UK, more are going to die.

Take a look a Paula Vennels to see how a political appointment trousered a huge salary by carrying out a Government policy, which was, and still is, essentially corrupt. She claims to have known nothing of the Post Office scandal, plundering sub-postmaster's accounts to make the Post Office look attractive to potential investors.

There are some deeply disturbing, rotten, corrupt things lurking beneath the surface in the UK, and even a cursory reading of "Private Eye" will demonstrate that it's not a crazy conspiracy theory to recognise how far Public Standards have fallen in the UK over the last few decades.

The Civil Servants involved even admitted that the Tory's "Bonfire of Regulations" was part of the problem. They knew stuff needed to be changed but the Tories insisted on a "2 out, 1 in" approach to changes in legislation, etc., and that meant the well-known problems with the Building Regulations were left. Lakanal House was a warning about problems that should have been sorted but weren't because of Tory political dogma.

And then there's the actions of the insulation manufacturers who knew that the stuff they were selling wasn't fit for purpose. Helped, of course, by the privatised BRE helping them pass tests that weren't even the right tests. Add in a Local Authority struggling with staffing levels thanks to Tory austerity and it was an accident waiting to happen.

I doubt anyone will ever see the inside of a cell because of it. Well, the poor sod who worked at the Council might because they'll need a scapegoat. Company CEOs and senior politicians certainly won't.
