What size inverter for a 75ah leisure battery ? |
|
Looking to wire in my split charge system when the weather improves.
Have a new Optima YT5.5 75ah leisure battery for it.
Would like to add a pure sine-wave inverter to the system, but don't know what capacity.
Don't need a lot of power, was thinking along a 1000w [2000w peak].
Would this be suitable or do I need something smaller?
Or could I get something larger?
All help appreciated, TIA. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I think I'd be coming at this from the opposite direction - ie what do I want to run off the inverter and for how long, and then what size battery will I need to power that!
Some of our boats have >600AH capacity battery banks yet we still try and minimise the size of inverter that we fit. 650W (or similar) will run a lot of stuff but, if a specific device requires it, then we might go up to 1,000W.
There are lots of specialist companies out there who would be happy to advise. We work with Barden but there are plenty of others.
So far as the inverter itself is concerned then we usually fit Victron. They are relatively noisy compared to some, but that is only 'cos they have better cooling which, in our experience, means they last longer. They also have an excellent range of external controllers and panels which can be operated remotely. Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Thanks for the reply.
I’ll probably just use it for:
A 500w 240v electric heater …. but just for odd blasts in the extreme cold.
A 60wh fridge … though that can run direct off the leisure battery.
Recharging my e-Mbike battery
Then just replenishing my “power bank”.
Nothing really big, but then again, once you have power, there’ll no doubt be other things that’ll crop up.
So just want to have an adequate inverter to cope.
Was thinking on Renogy (UK company) for the inverter, so have also dropped them an email. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
