Smart key only works on steering column

Smart key only works on steering column

Hi all my 2011 d4 only starts up when the key is on the column. Which ecu thingy is it in the roof that picks up the signal from the key?

Have you tried a new battery in the key? MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price! - So good I bought another!
MY2012 D4 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - retired to a new home

Yeah a bit more info is the wires to the roof have been cut and I have re connected them but car won't recognise the key. Weird the column sees it though?
Wondering if it's the thing marked receiver or if that's for the alarm.

Don't know about the other recivers, but there is an emergency receiver under the steering column which can read the key transponder directly if it's held very close (in case you have a flat battery in the key). That's probably why it works on the steering column.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can tell you about the other receivers. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
