Smittybilt Overlander RTT from Europe |
|
I'm going to get myself a roof top tent this summer. Been looking at Front Runner tent, but now I've come across with this one: http://www.smittybiltdepot.com/Outdoor-Lif...=S%2fB2783
Here's a review where both Front Runner and Smittybilt has been represented: https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/cam...overlander
The problem seems to be that I haven't found a company that would sell that tent in the European continent. Most of the US companies seems not to ship tents overseas.
So my question is: does anyone know if this tent could be purchased from Europe?
It seems to be a very good alternative for Front Runner one.

May sound obvious but have you tried amazon?
These folks have it listed - it allowed me to add it to my cart but I daren't go any further than that for fear of mistakenly buying one!

Transporting roof tents commercially is best done in a container or on a HGV going direct from factory to destination without transhipment.
Individual rooftents are best transported on pallets when being delivered internationally as they are large heavy objects typically weighing 60-70kg. Otherwise best in a van going direct from seller to customer.
Sending an individual rooftent from the USA or UK to Finland will not be a cheap option. Have a look at the Nakatanenga rooftents, they are based in Bavaria, Germany. Transport costs from Bavaria to Finland will be more reasonable or the alternative is a road trip once borders in the EU open up again.

This one seems to be a reseller in Europe: https://shop.asp-eberle.com/en/shop/roofte...83?c=41055
I've asked for a quote for transport, did not get one yet.
Also, it seems there is a "gen 2" -version now out of the tent, but the one they sell is (I think) the gen 1.

I got a reply: the tent is the new generation 2, and the shipping cost to Finland is about 300€
