Smokes like a steam train? |
|
Good morning everyone, can anyone give me some guidance on why my Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 XS has great plumes of white smoke out of the exhaust? I have just rebuilt the engine after crank bearing failure on No6 conrod which I think was caused by low oil pressure after turbo oil seal failure. Both turbos have been rebuilt by reputable specialist and engine has had new oil pump, new con rod, both belts and idlers, head gaskets and the pistons were out of the block so rings checked and all OK. Someone has been in there before me because the bores are +.20 It runs well apart from the excessive smoke. I was not very happy with the oil pressure at 20 psi at warm tick over but a bit of research shows this is well within LR/Ford/PSA specs....no wonder the cranks fail! The engine was timed up using the correct special tools so I don’t think it is a timing issue unless the crank sprocket has moved ? It does not appear to be using any coolant. Any ideas please before I lift the body off again and dive into the engine again ? Thanks.

Probably air getting in somewhere as a hose or component isnt sat right - probably best to smoke test it if you can Must stop buying shiny toys....
