Over the past couple of months I've noticed the exhaust is getting quite smokey. When accelerating in say third or fourth most notably. Can't really tell what colour the smoke is as I can only see it in the rear view mirror.
Just checked the oil level and it seems fine.
Any ideas as to what could cause this on an 07 D3? Really want to fix this as I hate the idea of pumping that stuff out at people behind.

A smokey exhaust under acceleration is one indication of a Split Intercooler hose.
Quite common on the D3
Normally the vertical one on the drivers side(UK) from the intercooler to the intake.
Take the cover off and get somebody to rev the engine, you'll soon know if it's split.

And if it is the intercooler hose, you'll also notice an increase in mpg over the past months and loss of power under acceleration.

This one smiled at me every time the engine was revved.
Right at the top where I could see it and hear it.

Wow!!!
A perfect match to Nasher's photo!!! Didn't have to lift the cover off as it was there in front of me.
Is it an easy fix? And if anyone's got a part number handy?
