I thought of the same but decided the LR one was too expensive. If I wreck mine I would consider making an OEM one removable too. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Folks,
with all the electronic in the car, I doubt that the air intake is the limiting factor. Which other ideas did you consider to make it more waterproof....

This is true about the electrics, I had a 300tdi which had 33" tyres and a 4" suspension lift which I dropped into a lake with. It was that deep the water came flooding in over the open window. (yeh windows should have been up). It took me week taking loads of connectors off and lubing up. had to by-pass alarm and imob. also the hazards came on willy nilly too. God knows how much damage it would do to the D3.
While im on, is it my understanding that the LR RAI is not water tight but the safari one is? cheers

Yes........................normally. Unless you seal it and the connection to the air box. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Initially thought the same, BUT!!!
Surely it's better to get your electrics wet than have water induced into the engine???
No matter what, there will always be a limiting factor.
But I'd always fancy the least damaging option first.
In fact, I'm going to raise a thread specifically asking how to maker the RAI watertight.
I know it's on here somewhere, but I'd like to highlight this as a separate fix with step by step instructions.
So please for those in the know, your contribution is necessary.
