SODA Blasting Kit Purchase
Morning all,
Looking at buying some SODA blasting kit to clean up some aluminium engine components and other bits and pieces.
I've done my homework in knowing SODA blasting is the safest way to tackle the more complex engines bits by only leaving a washable residue behind as opposed to shot or glass beads etc. which can get stuck and damage the engine on a rebuild.
Looks like you can go down the Machine Mart route for a few quid for a hand held gun with limited capacity or invest £300 in a Sealey kit which is more dedicated and has more nozzle attachments (for example in the SB997 plus the SB99 Conversion Kit).
Anyone up and running and having success with their cleaning operations please (before I dive in)?
Thanks in advance, cheers."Track day running - Don't put your foot back on the accelerator until your absolutely sure you don't have to take it off again"

Looking at that conversion set it is all commonly available 1/4bsp and I reckon you could replicate it for £40.
You could have a look at something like this, not sure if it would clog with soda though.Your air supply would need to be very dry.

Having played with these they look very tempting and I nearly bought one for small engine work but....
You need to shift a lot of air, 14 cfm may seem a lot but still limits you to a very small nozzle.
The air needs to be very dry or the system will clog - so factor in the price of a very good dryer.
You go through media like no tomorrow when removing paint from a panel - managed 20kg in 20 mins for a little over a square foot of a car panel.
Oh and the mess, as the media dust has to go somewhere.
Think of a full vacuum cleaner bag at around 2kg, reverse the flow and blow it out. Now do that 10 times in every 20 minutes - not something you would want to do in your average garage!
