Soft Roading

Wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere for a bit of soft roading in our D4?

Don't want to risk any damage, so really probably just a trail, maybe a water splash or crossing, nice views and somewhere for a picnic with our young kids.

Would love to embrace the disco lifestyle at least once lol

We are based in Milton Keynes, but happy to travel for something a bit different.

Join something like the 'All Wheel Drive' club, and look out for their Family days. Gentle off roading to be had at good sites in the south like Slab Common or Salisbury Plain.

Whatever you do stay legal or risk car being impounded. Best to join a local club to learn the ropes. Do a search for "Land Rover club in COUNTY NAME OF CHOICE"
Pay and play = private event on private land and a daily fee
Green lanes = unsurfaced roads but you need to know your beans or end up in trouble with the law and other LR owners Thumbs Up

I used to be a member of Beds, Herts and Cambs Land Rover club, great bunch of people who understand that you want to take things gently. Regular greenlaning days in the local area. You could also go up to wadden as they have a pay and play day. Farmer opens his fields for people to play in.. Sometimes gets loons but it does allow you to get to know your car

Land Rover Experience West Country http://www.westcountry.landroverexperience.co.uk do a good Trec day which takes in private land and some fun but not risky challenges, with good instruction if you need it. No danger, child friendly, great fun.

I've sent JacnNorris and h20ruf a copy of the route the forum did last year around Thetford, which in turn was duly plagiarised from a LRO article.

There are pictures and more details as well, here; http://disco4.com/forum/topic125084.html?highlight=thetford

As you can see - someone did get a puncture (unfortunately caught a bit of scrap metal) but otherwise easy going!

Excellent post. Would love to try that.

I'm based in Watford and I've been looking at joining the beds hearts and carbs Land Rover club. Web site isn't very up to date though.

There is also Hertfordshire off road club. Very friendly, but not LR specific and I think that's a good thing.
