Solar Charging MY16
Hi all,
Done a bit for search but can't really find the answer I'm looking for.
Whil Camping etc. we now have a Outwell Deep cool fridge which has been a game changer. Could beer at last
The issue is I am not running a 2 battery setup so although the fridge is supposed to monitor the battery voltage and cut out before its flat, I still have the thought in the back of my mind as to wether it will leave enough juice to start the D4.
So was thinking, instead of 2nd battery install, as not so easy in this stop/start era, how about keeping battery topped up with something like https://www.photonicuniverse.com/en/catalo...cells.html and connecting to the tow electrics.
This looks to be fine for your standard 12v lead acid battery, but what about the AGM types?
Any thoughts will be welcomed.Dorian Woolger

This seems to say that I can program the voltage parameters for charging (battery type "user") so should be able to set it up for AGM batteries but would still welcome comments or other solutions.Dorian Woolger

I would also be direct connecting to the battery, not using the tow electrics due to the volt drop. Then have a 50A Anderson connector setup one on the end is the solar controller leads then another connected to the battery via a fuse https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANDERSON-PLUG-5...XQkN5RCZr9 to quick and easily connect the panels.MY14 TDV6

Hi
Thanks for the reply. 40w is not a lot but I’m not running big loads.
And always a play off between portability and power hence going for a better quality panel instead of some of cheaper panels that are not as efficient.
Good point regarding the tow electrics. I will def look at direct connecting but obviously on the correct side of the sensors Dorian Woolger
