[Sold] 2007 D3 GS Manual.
Afternoon all.
It is that time again... I have been toying with the idea of selling on and off. I now feel the Disco is in a good place to move on. It always seems to be the case.. we refresh these vehicles until we are happy, then sell them for the next owner to enjoy.
Brand new MOT as of 02.08.2021
The only advisories it had was the prop shaft centre bush and a passenger rear spindle arm bush.
Year:2007 (07)
Spec: GS 7 seater Manual NON SUNROOF.
Mileage: 207,000 miles and climbing
Colour: Zambezi Silver
Owners: 2 previous
Last service: 202,000 full service inc fuel filter.
MOT next due: 03.08.2022
History
I bought this with 186,000 miles give or take. Within my 20,000 miles (2 years) I have spent a fair sum getting the car up to standard. Bundles and bundles of receipts with the car as I have been doing the work myself.
Engine has been serviced 3 times in my ownership, all with Advanced Factors parts/oils etc. I try to do the service every 8,000-10,000 miles. But I gave one service as soon as I bought the Disco. And then carried on the annual services. So I’ve over serviced it so to speak. It has had a high pressure fuel pump and belt also. The HPFP gives good live data readings, no concerns there. Also injectors show no fault either, all with good even values. Starts on the button, and I happily can do 500+ miles in a week without issues. Timing belt is due at 210,000. I was only made aware of the oil pump ‘issue’ after joining the forum. It could have be done, but I can’t see any proof. So as precaution, I’d buy the full Advanced Factor kit inc Oil pump.
EGR’s have been blanked and the butterfly removed. Engine light does come on and the fault code relating to EGR’s. I have not got around to getting the vehicle remapped. If I clear the code - the light will come back on within a week and just the one fault code relating to EGR’s.
Gearbox/transfer/diffs.
Clutch has been replaced by the previous owner with receipts. Clutch bite is lovely and no concerns over that. I have changed the gearbox oil annually along with transfer case and diffs. I have also fitted new drain/fill plugs.
Suspension.
The car is still on the original suspension shocks. It has had a new air compressor and air tank by the previous owner. Rear upper wishbones have been done. No advisories on any arms.
Tyres/Wheels
Standard 17” GS twin spoke wheels wrapped in 235/70-17 Cooper Discoverer All-terrains.
Brakes/hubs
Front Pagid discs/pads and new sliding pins fitted around 202,000.
Rear brakes have had a complete expensive overhaul. Discs/pads/handbrake shoes with new fitting kits, new calliper sliding pins and also new disc backing plates, upper hub bushes and wheel bearings. Handbrake all adjusted and working . Handbrake should be right for the rest of the vehicle life with a now full refresh. Brake lines have also been replaced with copper lines. Full Hunter front and rear alignment done after the work. Printout to prove.
Body work.
The underside is in remarkable condition. This was one of my main reasons for buying the Disco in the first place. I’ve spent time cleaning and tidying up areas, as you can see from the pictures. I have also fitted a new spare wheel winch.
This is no show queen - it has been used as intended, which means it has green lane brush lines, a couple of car park dents and chips. With the car being silver, it hides all the marks incredible well. From around 10 metres away, it looks brilliant.
Main bad point...
Cross over pipe has cracked - it must be a small crack as it’s only noticeable over 3,000-3,500rpm, which I rarely Rev the car to.
So, with the Disco needing its belts/oil pump and the cross over pipe - I have priced this fairly with those in mind.
£2,750 no offers - I believe this is super cheap for a running Disco with a fresh MOT.
I feel a little silly selling it as the stage where I am happy with the work I have completed- but with the next stage requiring more money, I have decided to buy a family members Auto S D3.
UPDATE: Handbrake module seems to be playing up today - so I just want it gone now. Reduced to £2,000..!

I’m sure this car doesn’t want to go anywhere new. Low and behold - I have managed to stumble across a low mileage/good condition cross over pipe today at a breakers yard. So that is on its way to save the Disco.
I will keep this up for sale and see what interest it gets with the cross over pipe replaced.Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

Fair price - good luck with the sale...
They are going for solid money at the moment - round here, adverts are asking £2-2.5k for non-runners and MOT failures, typically saying "bring a trailer" for collection.
Good to see 200k+ mileage...D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

I would list it for more if it was on eBay etc, just to deter tyre kickers.
I don’t mind someone on the forum having it a bit cheaper, knowing there’s still value left in it for them once belts etc are taken into consideration.
All being well, with the crossover pipe done - I’d possibly be more inclined to bite the bullet and get the belts/pump done.
I do feel silly for listing it, especially with it having had a lot of my time spent on it.Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

Why feel silly for listing it? If you are that attached to it, keep it.

I am after a little input of those in the know -
What would the value be of a running complete engine these days? Are the LR lumps commanding a higher price than a Jag S type equivalent?
I think I am going down the breaking route for this. Handbrake has started playing up again today. So the towel is being thrown in.
Or £2,000 takes this as is.Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.
