I’m under no illusion, I know I’ll miss the versatility of the D4.
The FFRR has near enough the same seating and visibility “Command” driving position as the D3/4 and that’s the most important thing. The boot isn’t as big, rear seats don’t fold flat. It does of course have a proper split tail gate though. So it’s a compromise, but hopefully one I’ll manage.
The other consideration is £’s.
April 2017 SDV8 Autobiography, with the £4,140 Meridian upgrade and upgraded 24 way seats, 20,500 miles, will come with a new service and warranty and a few bits and bobs I want the dealer to do. All in for £50,400 after the LR £4K deposit contribution*
That’s a lot of car for the money.
*I’ll pay one month of LR’s PCP and then cancel it without penalties using my own finance broker at a proper APR.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Can’t fault the logic there
Anything that the Fatty falls short on is made up for on a combination of that wonderful V8 and a box trailer (as and when necessary)
Like yourself, anything without a split tailgate is of no use to me now.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I think 2k is taken off the price of the car and 2k off the finance so will you gain the full 4k on cancelling? I was looking at doing this as well

Good question. I’ve seriously considered keeping it until it or I die.
I do around 25k miles pa, so I either get rid of it soon, at sub 70k miles whilst it has a reasonable value or I hang on. I did the later with my D3, selling it at nearly 150k miles. I don’t really want the aggro of the added maintenance which it’s likely to need from around 100k miles on.
I seriously considered buying another “work” car and keeping the D4 for the weekends, moving stuff and when the weather is bad etc. But I’ve got 5 cars already and don’t really want or have room for another.
I can live without the additional seats. Biggest compromises with the L405 will be the rear seats not folding completely flat and 20” rims being the smallest I can fit over the SDV8 brakes.
Do recall a while back some talk of 19” rims on L405, however not sure which engine/brakes they fit over and also presume they are not a popular choice and therefore rare to find?Discovery commercial tdv6 auto 2013

The SDV8 has bigger brakes and the smallest rim that will fit is 20”. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

The V6’s will even go down to 18” rims (for export only). I’ve seen them at the factory and they looked like a step too far!2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

LT - the versatility is what I missed. I’ve had 2xV8 D2s, 2xV8 D3s and and SDV6 2014 D4 from new. I replaced the latter with a 2016MY (2015 reg) SDV8 AB FFRR. Whilst I love the luxury and engine, the versatility is weak - moving daughter to uni recently the loadspace is pants and tip runs are more about how to protect the lovely plush interior. Maybe that’s my OCD. The Discos get under the skin in a way the RR has yet to do. Had a classic V8 RR in the 1990’s which was more charismatic. First world problems.
Am visiting South Africa next month and seriously considering importing a D4 with the V6 supercharged engine

The FFRR will be have a hatchbag and rubber mats. Plus it’s a £50k vehicle, which is about what I paid for my first Landmark in 2016 and I wasn’t scared to use that.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Yes, as LR contribute towards the deposit on the PCP. Thus reducing the actual amount of the loan.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Hi,
is this the "Right to withdrawl" had been looking at taking the £3000 contribution on a RRS although on HP not PCP, did think it said do this in the first 14 days and settle amount within 30 days, you are ending the finance contract "as if never taken" not the car purchase/deal

I think it’s already been muddied.
You’re just making an early settlement. That it’s being settled by another finance company is of no concern.
The title of the vehicle will then belong to the finance company that settled the original loan (PCP).
My understanding is you need to make the first payment of the PCP. So you’re not cancelling or changing your mind.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
