MOT to 15th June 2022

I bought this discovery last year as I’m a bit of a Land Rover enthusiast and it had been a year or two since my last one. I found it on the forum site being sold with a few issues, the plan being to fix these and end up with a very clean and tidy example of a HSE Discovery.

Unfortunately since then my job has changed which has resulted in a lot more mileage and a lot less free time to do the work. So I’m having to sell and ‘downgrade’ to something more economical.

This means there are still a few faults with the car but nothing that makes it unusable. Its used on the daily commute to work and of a weekend and is dependable and reliable. The faults are detailed below.

Recent non-service related work carried out:

Handbrake serviced 4/22
Windscreen Replaced (Genuine Pilkington with Heater Elemant) 1/22
Suspension ECU 12/22
Brake pipes 6/21
Steering column UJ 3/21
Rear brake caliper 1/21
Suspension compressor 6/20 ** Now the AMK Type
Rear brake caliper 5/20
Battery 12/19
AirCon condenser 5/18
Interior fan 2017
Torque converter 11/16
Belts last done in 2013

Comes with stamped service history and LOTS of paperwork to evidence all of the above and more

The car has been used but not abused. The bodywork is in generally in very good condition for a car of its age, with a few age typical nicks here and there. There is a small tear on the side of the front passenger seat (see photos) but the interior and seats are otherwise in really good condition with no significant marks or tears

Tyres:
Front: Pirelli ATRs
Rears: Pirelli Scorpion Zeros

Usual HSE spec with xenons, Heated front & rear seats (all working), ice cold aircon. Aftermarket screens in the rear of the front headrests (the cables aren’t connected to anything and I’ve never used them)

Also with:
Double tow pack electrics
Mantec steering guard
Privacy glass in rear
Removable Towbar
Aux Heater Controls

Other important points:

**Whilst in the process of buying the Discovery it developed a suspension fault, the previous owner was good enough to try and sort the fault before purchase. The end result was a new AMK compressor and rear height sensor. The issues where thought to be sorted but a week into my ownership it became unusable with constant suspension lights and the system releasing all the air.

After a fair bit of time money and effort the fault was found to be the calibration. Once this was set up correctly by an Land Rover specialist local to me, the fault has never returned. The system works brilliantly and as it should.

The airbag light comes on intermittently. This is a known issue with early D3’s usually fixed with a new clockspring or a wiggle of the cables under the drivers seat I have two units which are included in the price.

There is an induction roar coming from the engine bay. The local specialist has told me this is more than likely a boost pipe that will have a small split in. I have not yet had this fixed but the parts are easily bought for around £100 and around 2 hours work, according to the garage.

The infotainment system is not currently working. I have had this diagnosed as a fault with the fibreoptic link. the specialist has suggest checking the connections on the back of the radio as each unit lights up which indicates they are working but cannot ‘talk’ to each other. Either way a cheap enough fix just requires a bit of time.

Price is GBP 3850, which seems fair for a looked after D3 of this age and mileage with lots of paperwork and most of the big jobs sorted.

Payment to be via Bank Transfer only, I will not accept cash.

Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions

Many Thanks,
Jack
