SOLVED:Lost Sat Nav, Phone & Radio:Told Amp Gone in 2015 LR4

Hi all

Control screen grayed out for some functions but 2nd screen showed it is in fact the amp that has gone.

It appears to be part no. LR059979 so looking for 2nd hand one (Replacement circa £900) but also anybody replaced this previously and know is it located below the driver seat or in the boot / trunk area ?

Local LR shop will likely have to fit / code but seeing if anybody else has replaced and how that went.

Cheers

Looks like it's behind one of the boot panels:

Is this any good on eBay? : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144690686983

I changed the amp in my Freelander and no coding was required. It is 15 year old technology so things may have moved on Laughing

Good luck with your quest Thumbs Up

Ok so been to local specialist who stated the amp was the cause.

So far then :

1. Screen replaced with known working unit - not the issue
2. Amp replaced with known working unit - not the issue

The red light on the fibre optic is on so there is comms to the unit.

Any bright ideas for next moves ????

Which is why it went to local LR specialist for 2 weeks who diagnosed the amp…

Next….

Loop out each module in turn, to see what brings the functions back to life

Found this handy little video. As I feared looks like taking most of the trim apart front and back. Good to see this as well as the tech bulletin around troubleshooting the MOST ring being the way this should be tackled.

So I tested the DAB / Sat Nav for light emitting to carry along fibre optic cable as well as input cable carrying light. Both a yes.

Looked at the amp and no red light emitting then put simple meter onto the power input into amp as there is no way I could have 2 dead amps.... I don't....

Downloaded the full manual and wiring diagram to trace the power for the amp back to Fuse Link 11 in the engine compartment and it was blown. Used another from a less important system for now (will get new FL tomorrow) and everything pops back to life.

Seriously spitting feathers that supposed Land Rover specialist missed something so simple as did I.

Lesson learnt - now I have a spare High Line Display Unit and amp.... lol

I do though once again have a functioning Disco Very Happy

Good work. Always the least expected fault! It's called 'black box syndrome'. People always think it's the black box because it's a mystery what happens inside!

You should be asking 'why did the fuse blow?'. that will be the real diagnosis.
