Someone has the original TV system fitted?

Hi,

I'd like to use the original TV 4 aerials/antennas fitted in the rear windows and I would connect this antenna to a not original amplifier to use a PNA with TV functions (VDO PN-6000).

This is my problem:

I have seen that on the glass there is only one metal plate (to solder to the posivite of the aerial cable) for each antenna, but I don't know how to connect the negative of the coaxial cable.

Maybe on the car's frame?

If someone has the original Tv system fitted maybe can helps me...

Thanks in advance.

A.

I have the TV fitted but there are so many things using the antenna on the windows, tailgate and roof that I have no idea what connects to where. There is GPS, Phone, TMA, Radio AM/FM, and TV all looking for connections and to make it more complicated some go through the amplifiers inside the upper tailgate trim. When my rear screen broke and tooke the antenna there with it, all systems still seemed to work Confused You need to look at the wiring layout for the enterainment system - someone posted these recently. The antennae use the car earth, but again, which go to the amplifiers first I don't know! Sorry.

Thank you very much wiggs, I know this pdf, thanks for sharing it.

In this image seems that the original amplifier connects to the glass antenna with a single pole cable, but still I can not understand how I can connect the two pole of a coaxial cable if I use a not original tv amplifier.

Probably I need to use only an original amplifier to use these antennas ...

Hi, sorry but I'm also struggling with this,

are the Amplifiers already attached or just the Aerials on the glass ?, do we need extra Amps or is there a Coax cable running to the front of the Car ?

I'll put a £5 on this that Wiggs Knows Smile

Do I win the £5 Laughing

The amps are not fitted unless you have the factory fit TV

4 amps can be fitted at about £25 each ...i dont think you need all 4 as there will be different one's for different countries ( PAL ..NTSC ..ETC ) ..cant remember if its one or two needed for the UK.

These then plug in a tuner box ( approx £600) and from there use the most bus and coax cable

I have never seen the amps but i would presume they would need power to them ( would come from the tuner box i suspect )

The connectors for the arials would come with the amps and i think they are bonded / glued on

Hope that helps

I never bothered going down that route when i put my freeview in the car ..LR parts were too expensive and no guarantee they will mate up with any aftermarket stuff
