Spanishphone

Jealously seeing how the French have their own cozy spot to mingle in their native tongue (they always get their way, the French Rolling Eyes), I was wondering if something similar could be done about Spain.... Whistle

What do you say, Martin, is this something doable?

You know, we have some very good wines too, and bottles can be shipped no problem to the UK. I only mention this information as it may "ease the path" to a favorable response to my request Wink

Cheers (soon to be "Salud"?)

(Mode Tongue In Cheek ON)

And pray tell, why shouldn't we have our ways, as they, like our Cheeses and Wines, are the best or should I say the only one worth mentioning in the world ?

(Mode Tongue In Cheek OFF)

Good idea and why not ? But please notice that the Francophone does not draw too much attention... But again, why not ?

So, if the question : do I hear second ?
My answer is : Yeah !

Why thank you for your generosity in aproving my request, Gurvan (Banging Head the French)

As for the French cheese and wine being "the best" comment (pretentious claim?), we all know that is a myth.

Perhaps, and for the common good, bien sur, it would be a good idea to organize a forum-wide trip to France and Spain and have them all taste each other´s wines to settle such a vulgar yet too common misperception.... Laughing

au prochaine! Rolling with laughter

We could have a competition with non Spanish/French members to see who has the best wine (will leave out the cheeses, reminds me too much of old trainers). We can select a panel for tasting and samples of wine (only allowed in .75l bottles) would be prefessionally evaluated, at least at the start. Those who send whole crates would be at an immediate advantage. Might even ask the Ausies & Kiwis to send wine, just to guarantee we get the best from France & Spain! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Whistle

i guess that by "Au Prochaine", you can actually mean "Hasta la Vista" ? Wink Orin proper French, "A la prochaine"... Wink Very Happy

But anyway, and that was done with the "Tongue In Cheek" mode, I don't drink wine and I am a big fan of industrial cheese ! Embarassed Laughing

Thus...

But the idea of a meeting is still a very good one ! Thumbs Up

Sad thing is supposed to be cutting back on the red necter, drinking far too much of it. Wife has had the idea of going dry til Christmas, that just seems such a looooooooong way off. Never mind, will just have to drink the cheap ouzo from the back of the cupboard. It's been there since 1992 so should be well matured (its moved house with us 4 times, can't bring myself to throw it out). Sad

True but when in Rome, any port in a storm! How about that for mixed up metaphores! Ouzo is Greek but is colourless, goes white in water. Might be similar to pernod.

Very well, down-under members will also join the vino vs. vin challenge. Just remember to leave D3 keys at the door....

Dunno about mixing a bunch of Brits, French and Spaniards with a bit too much wine in their blood-stream.... (if only Nelson could raise his head...). Twisted Evil

What about the Irish? I suppose they would not want to miss such an event Wink
