spare wheel covers
have been looking for a spare wheel cover for the d3 for a while now, firstly to avoid the spare getting filthy in case i need to fit it at any point, and secondly to (if possible) thwart any would be thief hoping to nick my spare.
Has anyone any experience of, or thoughts on these.
From the pics looks like you would loose the cover as well. Just elastic holding the cover in place. Shame if it came over a bit more and secured on the top it would be a lot more secure - I think ?"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

I have one fitted, they come in two plastic styles. They basically envelope the spare in a bag with a ABS plastic base. oay if your a serious mud/water plugger then I think water could get in, but for moderate mud, winter roads, rain tis impossable to get in and get the wheel dirty.
Mine been on six months no probs, no water in, spare perfectly clean and no hassle. It also as you say hides the view of an expensive alloy.
A small pic is here, excuse the sticker

it does the job keeping water and grime off the wheel if you dont go playing in the deep stuff, if you do then it WILL act as a washing up bowl and hold the water in and corrode the alloy.
forgot to mention, go for the same style as mine, the other one is inverted. I tried that one and had to send back cos it does'nt stop vibrating with the wind under the car, and yes you relly can hear it.

I pointed Martin at these a few months back to suggest he look at stocking them for the shop with a D3 logo.
I also pointed Martin at the anti-misfuelling device after I negotiated a healthy margin for the site
And found a supplier of signwritten reflective vests that would allow a decent profit and an acceptable price for members
However, all group buys now have to be pre-approved by Martin to ensure maximum commercial benefit for the site...... and I haven't heard anything back on any of these I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

well there's the truth..............................................................................................................................., well I dont need a logo down there, nor a vest etc etc. I have so far all I need regarding advertising. I asked / enquired about side of body logos and not heard owt, so maybe I will drop it.
not surprised ND if you keep pointing at him

Lol maximum benefit - I think I'm still waiting for my ferkin reflective sticker. I say, I think as it's been a while and I can't remember seeing it . . . .
Shame about group buys as the bike rack and tinting ones I ran, took a massive amount of time and I made no commercial gain at all (like many I'm sure). Left it up to those who made a saving to make a donation."To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

News to me As far as I'm concerned if you organise a group buy as long as the site makes a few quid from it I can't see there being an issue. I can only see 'commercial benefit' coming in to play if the group buy was from a non-sponsor in competition with a site sponsor
I will attempt to contact Martin tomorrow and find out what's going on with outstanding sticker orders etc.The End

Here's my spare wheel cover with a reflective D3 sticker on it.
I bought my cover from Gordon Lamb Land Rover in Chesterfield, they regulary advertise them on ebay for £25 - Theres one advertised on ebay at the moment, dealers name on the cover is easy to remove - especially with a pressure washer.
