Speaker Hiss - whether started or not

Hi,

I've just (yesterday) taken delivery of a 3.0 SE with the most basic (non touchscreen) stereo. I've noticed that with everything in the car off (ie straight after unlocking without touching anything else) there is a low-volume hiss coming from the speakers.

Even after starting the car, the stereo, then switching the stereo off, the hiss is still there.

Anyone else experiencing this? I will be calling the dealer tomorrow about this.

Cheers.

England

does it have the AUX input? Might be a faulty socket - not grounding when no plug inserted.

Just a thought.

Well, this morning the lead technician from Trivett Parramatta had a listen and could only just hear it (we were parked on the side of the road in an industrial area with trucks going past...). Though my hearing isn't fantastic (too many hours in a motorcycle helmet + loud exhaust) I could hear it if I put my ear to any of the grilles.

He suspects it may just be noise from the amplifier.

Short story, he says that the software update is coming (MY10 Assurance Program) and may fix partially this issue by shortening the time until the car sleeps. On a side note, for those on that thread, this is coming soon and a letter will be sent out.

If I want to comprehensively test this (which I may do tonight), then:
1) Switch the cabin lights off
2) Open a door or two
3) Wait until the car sleeps (1 hour should do it)
4) Come back and listen to the speaker (don't open one of the closed doors first)

Also I can go into the showroom and see if it happens on their cars.

So it's no deal breaker, but I like my cabin quiet. You can't hear it once you start driving above 40km/hr.
