Speaker Rattle

Hi

i seem to have a problem with my passenger door speaker it makes a rattling sound in particular when i'm on the phone rather than listening to music.

I have had a play with the settings in particular turning down the base which has probably reduced the noise in music modes.

Anyone got any tips for a completely non competent person to try before i have to resort to dealer pricing to get fixed as i'm sure they will say its not covered by warranty.

cheers

Tim

I have the same problem only in my drivers door speaker. I also have vibration in the speaker when it's turned up over half way, frankly it sounds terrible. I have discussed it with a dealer who has had it twice to resolve a knocking in the window of the same door. He said it is normal and they vibrate when turned up loud! I didn't query this too much because I was speechless. Do you have the Premium upgrade by any chance? I do and I don't think it's unacceptable for an extra £1200! my D3 SE had a better sound. I have written o Pete at Land Rover through this website and I'll let you know how I get on.

I'm also considering going to a Car Audio specialist for their professional opinion.

Hi yes also have the premium upgrade I've not had it into the dealer as yet because I was waiting for the fix for the interference so could get both done at the same time although I think it's nothing that an update is going to fix.

I don't think mine even has to be up that loud for it to happen particularly when in phone mode it happens at low level.

Has yours alway been the same as although not had mine that long it certainly didn't sound bad when I got it?

Dosent seem to sound that normal as no one else talking about it and have never had it in others I've been in.

Hi Tim, You're right, the phone doesn't have to be loud, just normal levels and the speaker distorts quite badly. It's better since the dealer looked at it but its still pretty poor.

To hear the vibration through a CD it does have to be pretty loud but in all honesty I cringe when on the phone and turn the loud music down which defeats the objective.

Have searched the site and it appears a bit 'hit and miss' on how good your system is. Mine is a May 2013 car. I agree it seemed OK when new.

I am going to speak to the dealer again tomorrow to see how I can solve the issue. I'll keep you posted.

My 05 D3 has had a rattle from front speakers, but only when listening to radio 5 female presenters when listening on MW at 6-7 am. Really odd. Switch to radio 4 and no rattle from the female presenters Rolling with laughter
i guess it has something do do with MW interference made worse with some tones.

I had a rattle on the front passenger NAS LR3 speakers. I took door card off to investigate and the culprit was not the speaker itself, it is a door card mesh speaker cover, that is poorly plasti welded to the door card itself.Over time melted plastic, that keeps the cover to rest of the panel, loosens up and starts to rattle.I took door card indoors and used good silicone around speaker mesh cover and let it dry overnight.Worked like a charm. That happened like 4 years a go and it is still golden. Now the driver side speaker started to do the same thing, so I guess off to the taking panel down I will soon go...

So, what you are suggesting is that some carefully applied silicone will stop Rachel Burden squealing, first thing in the morning. Rolling with laughter

I took some time to listen carefully and find a track that amplifies the problem. both speakers are clearly rattling the drivers one more than the passenger. I'll book it in again..

Both front speakers replaced by the dealer seems to have cured the problem. Using the faders showed them as both vibrating/rattling.
