special programs/engine system fault

I'm more than a bit sure this has been covered, but a search on "special programs/engine fault" is bringing up loads of stuff, and none of it on this, so here goes again...........

On a steady cruise down the M40, I was climbing the incline down towards high wycombe (vicar of dibley cutting - you know the one), on a really light throttle, when the low fuel light started to flash - this I expected, as range was showing about 30miles left, but... then the message center starting throwing up the Special Programs off, engine system fault messages - there were no other warning lights on at all. I'd got no throttle response, so rolled it onto the hard shoulder - turn it off, straight back on, and away we went. Filled it up, and then after finishing work did the 100 miles home with no issues.

Current sitting at 26k miles on the clock - ideas??

Cheers

It sounds as a blocked filter...low fuel warning so you could have sucked something up. Thats the lucky way, when I had that warning it was Turbo

Had a similar problem yesterday. Cruising along at 60 mph with trailer behind when engine appeared to cut out for a split second then engine system fault, special programs off and no throttle response. Coasted into hard shoulder and restarted, all was well for another mile or so then the same again. Pulled in again and reset and all was well until i put the pressure on and the same thing happened again. This time I pulled in and left it a few minutes before restarting. No problems since. Went home and downloaded chip and re-loaded it again just in case it had anything to do with it. Had a good drive in it since and drove it on and all seems to be well now. Any clues?
