I guess that a range of accessory items can be slotted into that square hole at the bottom?

Would be nice to be able to slot a bike rack there.

I also presume that you can order the rear electrical wiring to add light boards if necessary?

Looks like the standard 2" hitch that's used in other parts of the world, a much more adaptable system than our normal one

Question is, where can we get one and how much, dealer does not appear to know about it. Metal Mickey could easily make racks and things for that attachment.

I'm popping in my dealer tomorrow to pick up a fire extinguisher so I'll see if I can order one, I'll ask them (again!) about G4 kit too

Funny you should say that. By the way, why is your Mini not showing in your profile ?

Fantastic! This is just what I've been looking for to carry bikes. I don't fancy the ungainly HD tow mount, and like the idea of the detachable tow ball. You #can# attach a rear bike rack to the swan neck / ball of the detachable unit, but I was a bit concerned that this would be a friction fit arrangement and not as sturdy as a 'rigid' rack.
It looks like Thule (who else?) do a suitable rack here - http://www.roverparts.com/ProductList.cfm?...umber=T935

There's also a curious 'basket' from that same site, which can be mounted on the receiver: - http://www.roverparts.com/ProductList.cfm?...ber=9238FR

That would be ideal for strapping my son's car seat. Would turn the 7 seater into an 8-seater, and stop him pulverising his siblings in the middle row!

Seriously though (!), is this 2" hitch business a standard across the rest of the world and has just passed the UK by? It seems a marvellous flexible design for carrying all manner of antisocial items* such as bikes, skis etc.

The only rub would be carriage from the US. I guess I'll have to have a chat with the local Thule supplier then...

* anti-social when carrying internally along with passengers.
