Speed and entertainment info in driver tft screen |
|
The 2010 US version LR4 brochure and owner's manual show the vehicle speed digitally displayed in the lower right hand corner of the TFT screen above the steering wheel. My car, as well as all US versions, does not have the speed display, nor does the upper screen show the current track playing on the entertainment system. My dealer told me that the US cars do not have the capability, but other world locations are enabled.
Is my dealer correct - does the UK and other location vehicles show the speed and entertainment info in the TFT screen?
Isn't this a software programming issue? I'm confused as to why the capability did not make it to the US. For me, it's a safety issue as a digital speed display is much easier to see than the analog gauge, which is sometimes blocked by the steering wheel. I wonder if the capability could be enabled through a hack.

Not sure about the track info - mine doesn't have that. However, the digital speed display is something that can be displayed, hidden or displayed only when you, for instance, set the distance units to kms. UK vehicles are set to display the speed digitally.

I get it now. It works on my US model LR4 after switching the unit in trip computer to KM/H.
I think the way it works is that for cars with mph gauge, for example, UK and US model will display the speed in km/h if you switch the unit so you can travel to other countries nearby, example, Canada, Mexico etc and know how fast you are going. Since there are no km/h markings on the analog gauge, there is no other way to know how fast you are going.
For models sold in other countries, I am sure switching the unit to mph will display the speed in mph so they can travel US road. TJ

You've got it, except as I said above in the UK the vehicles also show the MPH digitally.
