Spot Lights
Hi Guys,
My D3 has previously had Spot lights fitted. I believe it has had the LR Original ones and I have the switch for them on the dash. Looking at the wiring it appears to all be in place (although I'm no expert). My question is:
1 Can I use any other spot lights and attach into the wiring that I already have, and if I can is it easy to do.
2 If I can do that, then what spot lights should I get. I've seen discussions about light force, roo lights but I don't know what to get. I basically just want them to look cool and throw out loads of light when camping etc. I've seen some roo lights for £55 100w, what do you think about that?
Thanks in advance,

as for No1 i'm not sure but i would imagine that you should be able to replace one set with another so long as the cable used was good enoughIf in doubt............flat out.

STD wiring is designed fir the 55w lr lights. Not sure they'd cope with 100w, but could run a relay for new wiring if you upgrade.Bodsys Brake Bible

The ones that I've seen are actually £55 each, is that a good price, where should I get them from?
Are there any good cheaper options?
I've seen a lot of spots for £30 - £50 that are 35Watt are these any good?
All advice welcome!

there will be a big diff between 35w and 100w, depends upon what your wanting them for i suppose but if it were me i'd go for the 100w and pay the extra.
i'll check my invoice in the morn and let you know what i paid for them

OK , I need help. I fitted Lightforce spots to my disco after fitting an ARB bar. Worked fine for a week, but last night they died. After reading this post I understand that I had to fit a relay, so now how do I rectify the problem, what blew? any ideas where I can start searching for a fuse? Relay? All inputs appreciated.White MY2011 SDV6 HSE

Hi Kabous,
The first place to look is the fuse. Did you fit an in-line fuse with your wiring or did you use the LR fuse location?
Best Wishes,

Hi Peter, LR fitted their harness so not sure. In which fusebox should I start looking as I can't find the location in the manual. Many thanks. CobusWhite MY2011 SDV6 HSE

Hi Cobus,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you (I lost track of the thread ).
As best as I can establish, the LR fuse position for driving lights is fuse F16 in the BJB (Battery Junction Box), next to the starting battery.
However, if it is more than the fuse, and as an LR dealer did the fitment, I would get them to identify and repair the problem.
Keep us informed,

Thanks Peter , found the blown fuse. 15 Amp. I reckon that I must fit a 20 Amp? The formula is Amp=watt/volts, I.O.W. 200w/12v= 16.8Amp, which is why the fuse blew. If the battery's voltage is running at say 13.5v-14v the 15 Amp should do but the moment it goes below that , the amps will pick up and pop.

Hi Cobus,
Interesting point! Not knowing the wiring used, it would be silly of me to countenance an upgrade to the fuse rating.
As you are using aftermarket lights with standard wiring (true?), I suspect that you would be better off using the standard fuse and fitting uprated wiring and relay for the lights.
Let me know your decision,
PeterThe Bearded Dragon
