Spotify Premium, iPhone 4 and the D4

Hi Chaps,

Has anyone managed to play their spotify tunes stored on the iPhone 4 through the D4 audio system?

I can't, not even via blutooth.

When connected with the LR iPod lead, itunes plays ok but when switching to the spotify app it plays for about a second then the sound cuts out (although the phone itself continues to play).

Any ideas?

The only way i have found is to play it via the AUX lead on the back of the cubby box, not ideal though as it is at reduced volume than with the Ipod lead.
Im doing a search at the moment re alternatives.

What you need is a BT Module that does A2DP but I don't think the LR D4 BT Module supports this:

The only way to get music out of a Bluetooth connectible phone is to use the aux lead Sad

Cuzzy, can you explain in simple terms (bearing in mind your motto there) what this does and how I would implement it?

Thanks Thumbs Up

DD it basically gives you control of the app that you want to use, rather than the LR system defaulting straight to Itunes.
Therefore, in theory you should be able to use Spotify as your primary source through the LR connection.

Some more info on this forum link:

Im going to try one of the jailbreak apps so i will let you know how i get on.
My main issue is the volume of using the aux function, the quality is fine if you use a quality aux cable, so im wondering if an additional aux socket could be installed in the vehicle giving the same volume/etc as the ipod link, thus potentially mitigating the need for Censored about with the phone.

Hope that makes sense Thumbs Up

I've gone down a slightly different route using the aux connector and cable to iPhone. Main reason is that I have an iPod with about 60Gb mp3 music permanently in place in the cubby box bit plus I found plugging the phone in and out of there a bit of a faff.

The phone is now mounted on the centre console right on the driver's side up close under the coin tray. I then have a dual USB and aux cable that go into a single standard iPhone connector (eBay few pounds). Aux cable goes to rear aux socket and USB to a belkin USB 12v socket charger. So I can play music and charge phone. As phone is near my right knee, I can directly control app from its screen as easily as using the dash touch screen.

Quality is pretty good, not quite as good as the separate iPod but a good bit better than the headphone jack.

Cables very tidy as they just route down beside drivers seat and don't trail about the place.

Can't do pics at present as away on hols but I hope the description helps.

Cheers chaps Thumbs Up

Will use my old 3.5mm setup that I had in the D3 for my trip to France tomorrow for Spotify listening.

The sound quality was fine in the D3 so I'm hoping that's going to be the case in the D4.

I look forward to seeing how you get on Discocuzzy.
