I've been with A Plan Andover for years, both house, effects and vehicle.
This year their quote was outrageous so I have now gone over to another company offering the same cover for half the price and will be looking elsewhere when my house and effects come up too.
Incidentally, I thought the £40 arrangement fee was a little steep too.

I and my son have had all our insurances through A Plan in Andover for several years and up to now have always been competitive.
The staff have been very helpful but let me down recently (not the staff but the best they could come up with) over another matter ref my household insurance, then followed by the sharp increase for my Discovery and the 'arrangement fee'.
So now I have looked elsewhere and found a better premium for the same cover so will look around myself when other policies come up.
The staff in Andover have been as helpful as they could but can only work with what they can come up with.

Hi Clare, I'm new here but welcome back anyway.
There is another thread on here about insurance for off road events, non-competitive, for example LR Experience trek days. Two questions:
Would your full annual policy include cover for such an event and cover for pay and play type off road sites?
Do you offer any single day cover policies to cover the above, for situations where the car is insured for normal use elsewhere, with another provider?

We can offer cover cover for some events, it generally depends on the event and the vehicle. If you have anything specific in mind you can give us a call and we can go through the details with you.

Hi Clare,
I have a Discovery 4 which I use to recover fallen stock or game, and use on farm tracks, that is the limit of my 'Off Road' requirement.
The cover offered by my local branch were talking more about cover for Green Laneing and other more aggressive Off Road activities.
From what I have read on here, your cover is more suited to those members and for the cover and activities covered I would have thought it was ideal.
My local branch did point out that it was the Thatcham branch that dealt primarily with such activities.

I have my house insurance with you but have tried several times with car insurance both for my D4 and for my wifes car, each time you hae not been competetive on the quotes.
Further more I also asked about off road cover for the D4, this was for green lanes, by-ways, fields and driving through a friends wooded area, this also included none paying events that are not rallies or time trials and was told A Plan do not do any off road cover even for green lanes, by-ways etc
