Hi gents, recently bought my 06 plate D3 27k (a couple of weeks ago) and already had a flat battery and now a squeeling from car when towing. The squeeling is intermittent but also stays once the caravan is off. After being parked up over night everything is back to normal. Can anyone offer any help? I waited about for years to own a d3 but not a great start. thanks in advance.

Just a squeal? where does it sound like it's coming from.
Is it when stationery or when on the move (motorway speed etc)
Does it increase with Engine speed or road speed? Or not at all. Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks - Not sure really, I can just hear it out of my window. I think it may increase when I accelerate and cant hear it on the motorway. I normally pick it up when travelling quite slow 30mph or so ta.

Could be a multitude of things. Possibly just the Viscous Fan, which makes more of a roar than a squeal.
The Air Con Pump could be failing it's bearings 9woudl be based on increase in engine revs & would reduce in volume when you lift off the gas.
liekwise, could be your steering pump failing.
Other than that, not much else to go on without a trip to your dealers . Although You may well be out of warranty? Bodsys Brake Bible

Just out of warranty last month - looking to take out an extended one though it might already be too late.

If youi're under £60k, then get the Tesco warranty for about £400. Or the LR one (including Assist) for just over £1,000.... Bodsys Brake Bible

The thing that really get up my nose is that after I have parked up for a while without the van on I dont get the squeal. The car has run without a problem since yesterday morning, but I bet once the caravan has been back on for a while the sqeal will come back. Thanks in advance for your help guys, everything is appreciated.
