Standard stereo stacker support |
|
Hi All...does anyone know if the single disc head unit will support and after market stacker?
To change out the standard head unit for an aftermarket one maybe an option, however, most 2din units probably won't fit the hole without some trim bit...I know I can get a wiring adaptor to go from standard ISO to the original LR harness, but I am more interested in whether there is a cable connection that can run a seperate stacker located under the seat.
ZThanks
Tony

No it won't.
I had the same problem in 2005 when I first bought my TDV6.
Can I make a suggestion?
Spend your money on something like a tomtom go910. You get an excellent gps, blutooth for your phone PLUS 15 GB of MP3 files can be stored. Thats probably about 200 cd's worth. Its a fairly easy job to hook the MP3 feed in to the AUX port on the head unit. Should cost less than $500 for the whole job DIY.
Here's some pics in my gallery of the dash taken apart and you can see the radio head unti and space.

PM me if you want more info. Disco 2 TD5 "Good"
Disco 3 TDV6 "Better"
Disco 4 HSE SDV6 "Best"
The older I get, the better I was.

Thanks nikademus. What I use is an MP3 FM player that I plug a USB stick into and it plugs into the power socket and transmits on one of a selection of FM frequencies.(<$50 on eBay) Number of songs etc is stick size dependant. Would have prefered the other option cause then I don't have to rip my collection. The library is also a good source of talking books (yeah getting old, but keep you awake and alert), which we use on the 14hr trip to Perth.
I guess I'll have to organise earlier and rip the books to stick for the trip
Cheers

If you want to reduce file size when you rip the books do it in speach mode.
MP3 player will save the space all the Cds take up. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Hi
Kenwood in the UK make a fitting & fascia kit to suit their aftermarket 2 DIN units. See
http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/techn...ting_kits/
I'm looking at sourcing one of these kits so I can fit one of the new Kenwood decks, see
http://au.kenwood.com/Car_Entertainment/
Ryda have these for under $1900
http://www.ryda.com.au/Kenwood-DNX7320NAV-...320nav.htm
Hook a reversing camera to it and for likely under $3000 you'll have a great system with iPod control, DVD/CD, reverse camera and sat nav with a garmin interface.
If I can find a source for the Kenwood fitting kit and others are interested let me know and I'll see what can be organised. Cheaper than buying a HSE!

Great find. Been looking for a facia kit for ages, about to make one myself.
Let us know when you find a supplier. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I have a HSE and it was purchased without the premium ice or navigation. somethings are only available on the HSE that some of us want.

Found a work around, but then found a problem
Got hold of a kenwood 10 stack running an FM modulator. Simple hook up...divert the aerial input at the head unit to the input of the modulator, and pass the modulator output to the head unit aerial input.
And that's the problem. LR, in its infinite wisdom, decided to use not a DIN, not an ISO, but some other priority aerial plug arrangement.
Does anyone know what standard they use, and if there are adapters from DIN (the big male / femal aerial plugs) to whatever LR use?
Yes I could break into the cable and have someone solder in the DIN plugs so I can maintain original fit, however, in this town, the ability to find a capable person with the wish to do a 20 minute job at a reasonable cost is like finding rocking horse sh*t.
