Starting failure

Ok I’m feeling really stupid so please don’t make it worse. I washed my 2016 disco yesterday and gave the engine bay a good dousing of the hose whilst I was at it. Now - I’ve done this before without any problems. This time - go to start it and just a click when the starter should activate. Not a big click but possibly louder that a relay. Lights don’t go dim or anything like that so not the starter trying to turn.

I’ve removed engine, battery and brake fluid etc. covers and fuse cover and all is dry (did this straight after I realised it wouldn’t start). I’ve tried a jump earth from the battery to a good engine earth. No different. AARGH!!!!! Any help appreciated.

Behind the battery is main ECU and the 4x4 ECU, you will have got these wet, you need to remove the plugs from both units and dry them out, flood the plugs and socket pins with plenty of WD40.

If you are lucky the water will not have got into the main ecu, more likly the 4x4 ecu is the problem.

Flack Thumbs Up
