South Africa 2005 Discovery 3 4.0 V6 Petrol S Auto Alaska WhiteDiscovery 3

Not the same problem, but am looking for help. I have a 2005 Disco3 4.0l V6 petrol (126,000km) and recently started giving problems during startup. Cold start is fine but during hot start it just keeps on turning without the engine actually firing up. I have to kick-down the accelerator pedal to get it going. The exhaust gasses smells rich of petrol after this...Any ideas please?!?!?! Its been with the dealers for two weeks and several thousand Rands later I walk out with new sparkplugs and a lot of "diagnostic" labour cost...and it still does the same thing...I NEED HELP PLEASE Big Cry

SGH

Might consider to have the glow plugs checked out, had a similar problem on a diesel BMW

Jacques

Might be a long shot, but had a similar problem with my Freelander back in the days, it went in to many dealers and they could never diagnose the proplem, ultimately a friend with some tech knowledge had a look..........

It was the starter wiring on the motor it self, the carbon was thick on both the starter motor and battery terminals. After cleaning it was Thumbs Up

At first it did not make sense, but was explained to me as when the terminals are hot they cannot penetrate the carbon, but when cold, it can still get through the carbon. Not sure, but worth checking

Cheers

seems like a fuel problem to me
when did u change fuel filter recently?
worth checking the fuel pressures and do injector balance test (posibly on cold when doing that)
