Hi Kevsco, I have a March 2015 D4 SE and the Stop Start packed in last year but because it was coming to the end of the warranty decided to have it checked.
They found that the battery was dead, would not hold charge.
Initially they said it was not covered under warranty but after a lot of head scratching and 'phone calls found that it was.
I was very glad of that as they wanted initially to charge me £279.99 for a new battery and fitting
Even with a new battery it is still a bit erratic as to when it wants work but I have found it is better on a long run or a short one if the engine has reached it's working temperature.
One of the things they did say to me in the first instance was that if I had been using the heated seats, heated windscreen, radio, satnav or any of the other electrics during driving then I couldn't expect the battery on the Stop Start to be charged so making it inoperative ???
That was when I knew they were taking drivel !
I would insist on a new battery before your warranty expires.
Mine expires 25th of this month and they fitted a new battery in mine in January.

Hi EMcC
Was it the main battery that they replaced or the stop start battery that maintains power to all functions when the car does a Stop?
Thanks Gary

Now you've got me.
They said it was the Stop Start battery, the one that gets topped up from the main battery when the engine is running and no other electrics are being used !
Does that make sense to you ?
I gathered that they were saying it was my fault the battery never got topped up for almost three years because I was using the Radio, Sat Nav, heated seats, heated windscreen etc and as I had been using those electrics the Stop Start battery was never kept charged.

The following conditions will prevent an automatic engine stop:
2. The external temperature is less than approximately 0°C.
4. The engine has not reached its operating temperature.

Had mine since July last year , stop/start only started working after I had completed a 600 mile round trip in October , since then not worked .
I charged up both batteries a couple of weeks ago , stop/start still not working .

As I have no start stop for several months, I'm going to check my batteries shortly. I have the recommended voltages for the main battery I've picked up from this forum, but does anyone have any readings for the smaller start stop battery with engine not running and with engine running?
Would appreciate info.
Many thanks Gary

Hi all. Trying to diagnose why my stop start not working and thought I would start with checking the batteries before taking it to the dealer. I wonder if one of you knowledgeable people could cast your eye over these battery readings taken today, with temp in mid teens.
Main batt (90Ah 850A original LR batt coming up to 3 years old)
Rest reading 12.49
Starting process 11.07
When engine running 14.5
I thought this should ideally be at the 12.6-7 mark when resting.
Small stop start batt
Rest reading 13.73
No dip during start process
When engine running 14.45
Input greatly appreciated. Do I need to give either battery a boost charge?
Cheers Gary

Hi Guys
Had my Disco 4 checked in March and Hunters in Southampton confirmed there is an update for this. Following the update it all works normally now - even with Air Con on as well. Didn't post this earlier as wanted to test it fully and so far so good after some 4 weeks and 600 miles or so driving.
Hope this helps!

Hi Garry
Sorry, no code or other info other than dealer saying there was an software update which they carried out. Perhaps there is something on the LR website relating to this but I really don't know.
Update done under warranty but worked fine again today.
Regards

OK tks Bazalab.
My Topix access isn't working for some reason. Is anyone able to get in and check if there is a TSB for this?
Many tks Gary
