Glad you sorted it in the end, yeah plastic covers are the worst part but taking the Column out I found wasn’t as bad as you’d thinkMetal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

Does anyone have a ‘how to’ remove the steering column to avoid me having to work out the plastic trim removal?Porsche 968 Cabrio

My local LR dealer put a blob of weld on the shaft so the sensor was tight on the shaft again.

I wouldn't go to the bother of removing anything other than the big trim piece below the steering wheel and putting a bit of araldite, or Stixall, or hot melt glue, or anything pretty much to stop the plastic sleeve from not moving with the column. It is only very, very minor forces involved.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Thanks for the reply Daz.
The problem only occurred as i drove the D3 onto my ramp to change the lower suspension arms, so it wasnt even a job I was expecting to do!!

This was a very useful thread that helped me a lot. Thank you.
In the end I removed the steering column which was just 4 torx bolts. So fairly straight forward after removing the plastic trim. But removing it let me get to the offending item with reasonable ease.
I aligned the sensor with the wheels pointing forward then aligned the collar with the sensor before gluing.
I have refitted the steering column and tested with full left lock and full right lock. No errors.
Is there still a need to recallibrate the sensor if no errors are coming up?
ThanksPorsche 968 Cabrio

If you have no errors showing then to me you done good 👍🏻
It only needs calibration if tracking was out and the realignment has threw the sensor off

Araldite ARA400013 is ideal for the job - little syringe with 6ml of epoxy that mixes when you apply and starts to set in 90 seconds.
Just make sure you only stick the important part to the shaft and not both

I used sticks like sh*t and then tidied it up with cotton buds then left for 48hrs to set although that was mainly due to rain stopping me getting on 🤣Porsche 968 Cabrio

Sorry to raise an old thread. Is it obvious when fixing the collar, where it should be stuck to return it to within tolerance? Or is it just a case of luck and failing that resetting the angle sensor with a Nanocom etc.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Been fighting a few errors of late, but turns out one of my issues was with the steering angle sensor.
I could turn my ring by hand easily.
Applied the fix as recommended in this thread, and all is well (at least with the angle sensor now).
It's hard to get a good view of the ring, but I used a mirror and was able to get the syringe just in the right spot.
Thought I would share some images to help others.
First I degreased using a small paintbrush.
Sticks Like Sh*t does appear to bond well (plastic to metal) - I did some testing first off.
Used a small syringe with a bit of hose
Was able to push the adhesive just in the right place
