Steering ball joints

Hi,
Can anyone tell me, is it possible/practical to change upper/lower steering ball joints in-situ rather than having to take off wishbones and then having to have the wheel alignment re checked?
If it is possible, is there a thred on here somewhere explaining how?
Thanks in advance.......

After removing the wheels Remove the cotter pin from the ball joint and separate the ball joint from the knuckle and then press the new ball joint into the control arm and then install the steering knuckle back on the ball joint assembly. this is the way to replace the ball joint if you do not understand just go to garage and change it .
