Steering lock stuck 2016 Disco 4. |
|
I have an issue with the steering lock sticking on my Disco 4 2016. I can start the car if I code out the steering lock from the CCF, so wanted peoples opinion on removing the steering lock, what do you think? I realise it's got shear bolts but they can be removed. So am I likely to damage anything else or is the steering lock an isolated part? I realise the security implications but that doesn't worry me.

My opinion is take it to a good independent and get it fixed...
The problem there maybe more than just is manifesting itself as a sticking steering lock.
Hope you get it sorted whatever you decide to do...

The steering lock was shockingly easy to remove despite the shear bolts. Once the steering lock was removed from the CCF car starts and drives just fine.
Ordered new steering lock just hope it doesn't need coding!
